KRONOFIX INSTALLATION GUIDE
IMPORTANT : Basic rules before installation!
Please store flat in the unopened package for at least
48 hours (min. 18°C). Panels must be checked for defects
under suitable lighting conditions. Complaints concerning
used panels will not be accepted. KRONOFIX is not suitable
for wet rooms such as bathroom and sauna.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION : For installation
you require :
0.2 mm thick PE-foil, footstep-sound insulation,
spacers, pushblock, pull-iron, saw, hammer (min 500g),pencil,
straight edge and string. Please exclusively use K-floor
accessories which are specifically made for KRONOFIX.
Opened packs must be used without delay.
- KRONOFIX is installed floating! The panels
must not be glued, nailed or fixed in any other manner
(e.g. doorstops) to the subfloor.
- Wood moves. Therefore always a space
of 15mm should be left between the panels and the walls
or other elements projecting from the floor (e.g. heating
pipes, door frames).
- Installation should be carried out at
room temperature of min. 18°C. The relative air humidity
should be 50-65 %.
- The sub-floor must be absolutely level,
dry, clean and firm. Floor deviations of more than 3mm
over a distance of 1metre must be sanded down or ground.
- For damp insulation first lay a PE-foil
(0.2 mm thickness). The seams of foil should overlap
be at least 20cm and should be stuck together.
- For footstep sound installation use a
special underlay like K-floor Noppa-foam mat. The seams
should be laid in the same direction as panels.
- The panels should always be installed
in the direction of the main light source.
- For installation on underfloor heating
please observe the special installation instructions
which you will find at your KRONOFIX distributor.
- Between rooms as well as within rooms
more than 8m long or wide expansion joints (min. width
2cm) must be provided.
Please carefully adhere to the installation
instructions.
The installer is liable for inappropriate
use.
- Lay the first KRONOFIX panel with the
tongue towards the wall. It is best to begin in a corner.
- Set the distance to the wall (15mm) with
a spacer.
- Carefully assemble the panels using a
hammer and push-block. First fit together the longer
edges., keeping the panels flat. Next join the short
edges. Before fitting them together, bring the panels
as close as possible to their final position.
- For accurate cutting of the last panel,
rotate this through 180° and with the pattern side upwards,
place beside the already existing row, so that tongue
lies next to tongue.
- Include the 15mm play at the end. Mark
out offcut and saw off.
- When doing this, always saw from the
upper surface of the panel, in order to avoid splintering
the edges. Only when using an electric jigsaw or a hand-held
circular saw the patterned side must be placed facing
downwards.
If the wall is not straight :
- Then the line of the wall must be marked
on the first panel row using a spacer.
- Saw the panels longitudinally according
to the marking.
- Check that the first two rows are absolutely
straight using a guideline.
- Start each new row with the left-over
piece (min. 40cm length) from the previous row.
- Always use the pull-iron for the last
panel of the row.
Heating pipes and room dividers :
- First cut the panel to the correct length.
- Then lay the panel section beside the
actual position, measure the recesses with a ruler and
draw in.
- Now drill out the marked sections.
- Saw the panel through the bored holes.
- Here too: remember that the necessary
distance (12-15mm) on both sides.
- Sawn-off pieces press tightly together
behind the heating pipe (using the pull-iron).
At the end :
- Measure the exact width of the last panel
row.
- To do this lay a panel on the previous
panel row.
- Then lay a second on the panel to be
measured with the tongue to the wall and use a straight-edge
and saw the panel along the marking.
- Please do not forget the wall, spacing
from 15mm.
- Fit the last panel carefully using the
pull-iron. Ready!
